Primary responsibilities:
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:• Analyzing General Ledger accounts and transactions for proper classification
- Preparing & Posting Journal Entries as required for weekly transactions & month-end close, including Payroll, Cashbook, Prepaids, Accruals & Fixed Assets
- Preparing Balance Sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis, including identifying supporting details clearly and following through on clearing reconciling items
- Maintaining Capital Equipment Appropriations, issuing Equipment Job #’s for new Appropriations, monitoring and reporting on monthly spend
- Updating Fixed Asset records for new purchases, including organizing appropriate supporting documentation for each asset
- Preparing and filing periodic Sales/Use tax returns with corresponding payment(s)
- Compiling monthly Financial Statements
- Preparing schedules and/or other documentation in support of the annual audit, income tax return, property tax returns and other information returns, as required
- Assisting Purchasing and Accounts payable in the proper account classification of transactions
- Other duties as requested by the Controller or other member of the Senior Management Group
To be considered, candidates must have the following background:
Education and Certifications
Professional experience
- 4 to 6 years relevant experience in an accounting/finance department
- CPA, CMA or candidate for one of these preferred
Specific skills and knowledge
- Experienced in using complex accounting systems (ERP systems), preferably in a manufacturing company environment
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of and the application of US GAAP
- Knowledge of business processes and controls, and experience in applying them in transactional situations
- Proficient with MS Office and/or other such business software tools required for professional financial analysis and communication
- Self-starter comfortable working in a demanding environment
- Able to work independently or in a group situation and manage multiple priorities at the same time
- Understands deadlines and the requirements to meet them on a consistent basis
- Able to communicate both orally and in writing to all levels of the company
- Responds quickly to change
- Willingness to pitch-in and help others as needed
- Recognizes when to seek advice and/or assistance on complex issues or problems
