Executive Team

Brian Murphy, PhD, CEO
 

Dr. Brian Murphy co-founded PrimeStar Solar and serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.  Most recently, Dr. Murphy served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Fulcrum Technologies, Inc., which he founded to serve the thin film deposition and specialty equipment needs of such companies as ST Microelectronics, Magna International, and Alcoa. Previously he served as the Plasma Display Product Line Manager for Applied Films Corporation, where he contributed to the development and commercialization of the ATX thin film deposition platform. In addition, Dr. Murphy has held senior positions at Donnelly Corporation, Universal Superabrasives (Saint Gobain), and Midwest Technology. Dr. Murphy is a graduate of Michigan Technological University where he earned BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering and a doctorate in Metallurgy with a focus on nanomaterials.

Fred Seymour, PhD, Director, PV Technology
 

Dr. Fred Seymour serves as our Director, PV Technology, where he leads the thin film process development effort.  Prior to joining PrimeStar Solar in 2006, he conducted research on CdTe photovoltaic solar cells with a view to commercialization at the Colorado School of Mines.  He also worked in the gold mining industry as a senior manager, including 16 years with Newmont Mining Corporation implementing new technologies to enhance efficiencies and to lower costs.   Dr. Seymour holds a BA in Mathematics and Geology from Carleton College, a MS in Mathematics, and a recent PhD in Materials Science from the Colorado School of Mines.

Jack Little, PE, Director, Engineering
 

Jack Little, Director of Engineering, is leading the equipment design group at PrimeStar Solar.  He has been extensively involved in the design and implementation of vacuum and thin film coating equipment, automation, and custom machinery since 1980, including three years at Applied Films Corporation as Mechanical Engineering Manager.  Previously, Jack spent numerous years in aerospace, mining and manufacturing working for Goodyear Aerospace, Kennecott Copper Corporation and AMF Head.  Jack earned a BSME degree from New Mexico State University and is a registered professional engineer.

Mark Auble, Manager, Business Development
 

Mark Auble, Business Development Manager, has twenty-five years experience managing high volume manufacturing operations in semiconductors, optics, and display thin films. At Applied Films, he served as Vice President, Operations, and was responsible for the expansion of its manufacturing division. He joined Applied Films after more than fifteen years managing semiconductor operations at National Semiconductor and Zilog. At these companies Mark was responsible for the start up of new plants and the rapid scale up of wafer fabrication lines. He holds a degree in Psychology (industrial and organizational), and during his career has led several manufacturing optimization and organization development efforts.
